The Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) has been extended by a further two years, giving owners and operators more time to secure funding for upgrades that improve performance, reduce carbon, and protect consumers.

Heat Networks become a regulated utility in 2026

From January 2026, heat will be treated as a regulated utility.
If you manage a communal or district heating network, you’ll need to prepare for a number of changes that could impact how you run your network.

With UK Government ambitions that 20% of all space heating and hot water is fed from Heat Networks by 2050, it’s clear that reliable, efficient systems will be vital to reaching Net Zero.

Just over a year ago, the D3A Energy team made their way to the picturesque district of Uttlesford in Essex, where we carried out surveys on a number of council-owned buildings ahead of developing bespoke Heat Decarbonisation Plans.

Geoff has visited Newcastle University’s School of Engineering, presenting a lecture as part of the Energy Management module.

Great news for our client the Yorkshire North & East Methodist District, who’ve been nominated in this year’s Community Energy Awards.

North Yorkshire has been awarded £22 million from the Shared Prosperity Fund and Rural England Prosperity Fund.

James recently graduated from Newcastle University with a First-Class Honours MEng in Mechanical Engineering with Energy Systems.
