PROGRESS AT ROSYTH METHODIST CHURCH

Rosyth Methodist Church is taking meaningful steps towards Net Zero.

We’re close to completing the first phase of decarbonisation works for this active congregation. With support from Scotland’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES), the Church is installing:

  • A 29kWp solar PV system

  • A 23kWh battery storage system

The system is forecast to generate around 22,000kWh of electricity per year - supplying the majority of the Church’s future electrical demand and significantly reducing reliance on grid electricity. The addition of battery storage will allow surplus daytime generation to be used in the evenings, improving both carbon savings and financial performance.

This will just be the start, with renewable electricity generation in place, the next phase will focus on replacing the existing gas boiler with a low-carbon heating solution - moving the building closer to full Net Zero operation.

We’ll be sharing more on that stage in the coming weeks.
