WIND POWER IN NORTH YORKSHIRE

In 2024, we worked with Settle Energy Local Club (SELC) and Action on Climate Emergency (ACE) to assess the potential for community wind energy in their area. Building on local hydro and solar projects, our feasibility study is a step toward meeting 30% of Settle’s electricity demand with clean, local energy.

As project lead, d3associates developed the Stage 1 feasibility study - covering technical analysis, planning considerations, and business case development.

The outcome? Medium-scale wind looks possible, though grid connection and visual impact are key challenges. A funding application to the York & North Yorkshire Mayoral Investment Fund is now in - and we’re hopeful!
