HEXHAM SQUASH CLUB

BACKGROUND

Hexham Squash Club, is located within the grounds of Hexham Golf Course and surrounded by the idyllic countryside of Northumberland. 

d3associates assisted Hexham Squash Club in applying for grant funding as part of the Sport England Inspired Facilities funding scheme in order to renovate their squash courts and upgrade the adjacent changing facilities. Following a successful grant application d3associates were appointed to carry out the design of the refurbishment works to update the changing room facilities and to project manage the renovation of the squash courts. This included a separate contract to remove asbestos discovered within the squash court building. 

OUTCOME

d3associates carried out building surveys, detailed design and prepared drawings and specifications. Discussions were held with the Local Planning Authority and a Building Regulations application was completed. Tenders were obtained from three local contractors and a tender assessment report produced prior to award of the contract.

The work to the squash courts included new radiant heaters, lighting system, re-plastering and skimming of the walls, new floors, glass court doors, creation of a new access and internal lobby. The men’s changing room were upgraded to include new showers, basins, ceramic tile flooring and modern amenities.

Project managing the scheme d3associates ensured all the works where completed in a timely manner and within budget for the grand opening.
