REFURBISHMENTS AND ALTERATIONS

SELE FIRST SCHOOL, HEXHAM

BACKGROUND

The Sele First School is a listed building in Hexham, located close to the Abbey and the surrounding Sele parkland.

d3associates were appointed to design and project manage several projects; some of which were to be carried out within the school holidays and others to be completed within term time.

OUTCOME

The initial phase of the project involved the refurbishment of three classrooms, essential roof repairs, and remedial work to a corridor. Upon successful completion of this stage, d3associates coordinated the installation of bespoke playground equipment and new security fencing, as well as the refurbishment of existing toilets to include a fully accessible facility.

Given the building's listed status, the Historic Buildings Officer was consulted early in the process, and Listed Building Consent was secured prior to commencement of works.

d3associates provided a full suite of services, including building surveying, design, preparation of detailed specifications, and procurement through competitive tendering. We also project managed the entire programme, ensuring all works were delivered on time and within budget.

By maintaining close communication with the school throughout, we successfully delivered a series of improvements that enhanced both functionality and accessibility - on schedule and to budget.
