The Government has announced new funding worth £415 million to boost schools facilities and promote healthier lifestyles amongst pupils. This is excellent news for primary, secondary and sixth-form colleges who will be able to use the funds to provide new facilities or improve existing ones, to make it easier for a range of extra-curricular activities to be provided supporting physical education and after school activities. Schools will also be able to use the new healthy pupils capital programme to improve facilities to support children with physical conditions and mental health issues.
The money is coming from the Soft Drinks Industry Levy and will be available in the 2018-2019 financial year and further details about distribution of the fund will be published later in 2017.
Local authorities and larger multi-academy trusts (MATs) will receive an allocation for their schools and smaller MATs, individual academies and sixth-form colleges can bid for grants for specific one-off projects.
d3associates already have a successful track record of working with schools to secure capital funding bids – having secured over £1.1M worth of capital funding for Academies in the Northeast.
