d3associates were appointed by Tyne Tunnels 2 Ltd (TT2) the Concessionaire for the New Tyne Crossing to provide consultancy support to assist in the coordination and development of the Operation and Maintenance manuals (O&M) for the new Tyne Tunnel and the implementation of a definitive maintenance schedule following the construction of the new southbound vehicle tunnel and refurbishment of the existing vehicle tunnel.
d3a reviewed the as-built drawings and maintenance information provided by the Principal Contractor, to ensure that it was complete and undertook checks against the actual installation on site. We assisted TT2 in rationalising the data provided to develop the O&M manuals for this complex multidisciplinary scheme and co-ordinated the maintenance specifications and schedules to successfully develop a clearly defined maintenance system. This included providing guidance on the requirements for the long term heavy maintenance schedule.
Following this a series of external maintenance contracts were prepared utilising specialist suppliers, including a long term tender for Structural Inspections, Monitoring and Emergency Support under a NEC3 Term Service Contract.
