d3associates undertook a condition survey, and provided an options appraisal and business plan to ensure the continued viability and success of Citizens House, in Consett Co. Durham. The building is used primarily by disadvantaged and vulnerable member groups and provides space for a range of activities and acts as focus for community life.
The brief included looking at ways to improve the layout of the building, by improving the internal circulation and creating a new entrance and meeting room, along with improving the energy efficiency of the building fabric.
A thorough review of the centre was carried out including the provision of detailed income and expenditure projections, covering repairs and maintenance, operational costs and marketing along with developing design options to improve the utilisation of the building and potential income. The results were presented in a detailed business plan, which was used to support a successful Community Asset Transfer bid.
Following the Pre-Feasibility Study d3associates provided support in completing additional funding applications.
