The brief was to convert and extend semi-derelict farm buildings on a challenging steep site and create a character home for a family with three young children. Extensions and new build had to exactly reflect existing materials and detailing to match the scale and historic character of the original farm steading, as well as provide a full landscape scheme for the garden.
The completed scheme provided a character family home with spectacular views over the Tyne Valley. Extensions reflected the details including Yorkshire sash horizontal sliding windows, profiled stone window surrounds, kneelers and water tabling and dressed stone chimney.
The scheme was awarded a Civic Trust, House and Cottage Award and was subsequently Grade II Listed.
